Flora of Israel in May

Springtime in Jerusalem is a garden-lover's dream!

Aloe polyphylla
Spiral aloe

Tracheelospermum jasminoides
Star jasmine on our walk to coop

Origanum vulgare
Oregano in an olive grove

Olea europaea
Or is it olive trees in an oregano grove?

Phoenix canariensis
A date palm watches over a chapel nearby in Bethlehem

Pink Petunia atkinsiana and red Impatiens walleriana take center stage as
purple Lobelia erinus play a supporting role, playing their drama in our chiropractor's courtyard

Pelargonium hotorum
On the roadside. And in balconies. And in a pot on my balcony.
Geraniums of all kinds, in all colors, are everywhere.

Jasminum mesnyi
Primrose jasmine

I found this at the Garden Tomb. No idea what it is but I like it.

Nymphaea alba
White lilies in front of the National Aquarium

Ammi majus
Large bullwort in every abandoned field

Salvia leucantha (Mexican Bush Sage) tries to outshine a planting of
Tecoma stans (Yellow bells) on my walk to the grocery store.

Passiflora foetida
Passionflower

Cyclamen persicum
Alpine violet

Rosa hybrida
Tea roses on our way to Tovi's birthday dinner

Rosa chinensis
Roses across the street from the Old City's New Gate

... and roses along the front gate of our house.
Roses were made for Israel.

Gianninica Adorabilfolia
"Peanut"
The cutest flower of them all.

Loving my springtime walks. Thought I'd share it with you.
