Snapshot of the last week

I have spent the last week and almost-a-half without my husband and have lived to tell the tale. But for a while there it was a close call! In the time since Danny left for the mission trip to Argentina last week, the dining and living room light system stopped working, Dominic caught a cold complete with ear infection and mild fever, and the A/C began leaking a bucket-full of water with each cycle. Tuesday I drove down to Miami to pick up my bridesmaid dress for Amy's wedding in two weeks to discover that there in not a seamstress in the world with the skill to tailor the size 2 dress I'd ordered last May to my 5 month pregnant self. And then of course there was that unfortunate incident where Toby split his eyebrow open on the bathroom step-stool...

I didn't get a break to go to Publix till Saturday. We'd been living off of leftover veggie lasagna, and mushroom, beef, & barley soup for days. After Toby's fall, people must have started remembering to pray for me because I've had family over every night since. Even tonight, Melissa and Amy and Brandon came over. We ate Papa Johns to our hearts' content and baked Danny his favorite food in the entire world...my apple pie. I'll wash the sheets tomorrow because Wednesday morning at about 7 am, I expect Danny to be flopping in them, freshly arrived from the southern hemisphere. I can not wait.

As for Toby, praise the Lord, I was in such a panic after his fall, pressing the two halves of his brow together for so long trying to figure out how to drive to the hospital without letting go, that the brow somehow sealed itself. No stitches required. He's sporting some Cindy Lauper eyelids but he's going to be just fine!
